Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Who doesn’t love a good burger? Well, now you can enjoy the juicy, hearty taste of a quality burger all in one amazing plant-based package! Why settle for frozen veggie burgers when you can make your own right from scratch! It’s tasty, nutritious, and has plenty of healthy vegetable proteins that your body needs! Without further ado, let’s get started!

YOU’LL NEED: 1 (16 ounce) can of black beans (drained and rinsed), 1/2 green bell pepper (cut into 2-inch pieces), 1/2 onion cut into wedges, 3 cloves garlic (peeled), 1 egg, 1 Tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon cumin, 1 teaspoon Thai chili sauce or hot sauce, 1/2 cup bread crumbs.

STEP 1: If you’re making your burgers on a grill, preheat your outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil. If you’re baking, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F, and lightly oil a baking sheet.

STEP 2: In a medium bowl, mash your black beans with a fork until the mixture is nice and thick and pasty.

STEP 3: In a food processor, finely chop up your bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Then stir it all up into your mashed beans.

STEP 4: In a small bowl, stir together your egg, chili powder, cumin, and chili sauce.

STEP 5: Stir your egg mixture into your mashed beans. Then, mix in your bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. You can then divide up your mixture into four solid patties.

STEP 6: If you’re grilling, place your patties on foil and grill for about 8 minutes on each side. If baking, place the patties on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes on each side.
